Big Kungfu, hailing from Detroit’s Eastside, is a multi-talented artist who has made a name for himself in the music industry. He’s a skilled songwriter, engineer, mixer, and master of his own music, with the added bonus of learning production. With a drive to create, Big Kungfu produces an impressive 10-20 songs a day.
Inspired by Lil Durk, Hotboii, Vezzo Moneybagg, and Brent Fiyaz, Big Kungfu started rapping seriously at the young age of 14. It was then that he dropped his first video and song, “FreeTwilley”, which ended up being a turning point in his life. After being kicked out of his mother’s home for participating in street life, Big Kungfu got a job at KFC and was faced with his first legal issue, a concealed carry weapons charge.
Despite the challenges he faced, Big Kungfu continued to pursue his passions. At 16, he launched a fully copyrighted clothing line and graduated high school with a notable ranking in Michigan sports, particularly football. He was even offered several Division 1 scholarships, but after an unfortunate incident where he spit on a girl and was subsequently kicked out, he lost many of these opportunities.
However, Big Kungfu did not let these setbacks discourage him. He attended college for a semester and a half, but ultimately dropped out to fully invest in his music career. Since then, he has continued to build his brand and establish himself as a formidable presence in the industry.
In conclusion, Big Kungfu’s journey from Detroit’s Eastside to the music business is a testament to his resilience and determination. Despite facing numerous obstacles, he has persevered and continues to make waves in the industry with his talent and drive.
