March 27, 2023

John  Hickman’s life is an example of how there is always time to pursue your dreams. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on September 30, 1974, John grew up in a small town called Gordo. He had two ambitions as a child: to become an actor or an NFL star. But life had different plans for him. At 21, he became a father, and soon after, he dropped out of college and began working in his family’s poultry business. He spent 25 years in the family business and rose to the top ranks of the poultry industry. However, he always held onto his childhood dream of becoming an actor.

It was in 2011 when John finally had the opportunity to act. He won a walk-on role on the HBO show True Blood at a hospital fundraiser in LA. The experience was magical, and he was invited back for two more episodes. From there, he got cast in various indie films and ended up with over 40 acting credits. He took every role offered to him to gain experience, despite having zero training or prior experience.

John’s biggest role came in The Vanished, where he played the main villain, Tom Henry. The movie was filmed only five minutes from his house and had a massive audience of 195 million on Netflix. He also got to work with Al Pacino on the movie American Traitor. Recently, he starred in The Fearway with his real-life partner, Jessica Gray. She had been asking John to help her land a role for two years, but he was hesitant to introduce her to the harsh reality of the acting industry. Nevertheless, it worked out great, and the movie received critical acclaim.

John’s life journey was not without challenges. He battled a drinking problem for many years while building his resume in the acting industry. After working with Al Pacino, he realized he needed help and entered a facility. He has been sober for three years and wrote a book titled Lights, Camera, and a Warning, which will be released soon.

John advises aspiring actors to take classes and continually improve their skills. He emphasizes the importance of being kind to everyone on set and showing up on time. John’s story is a reminder that there is always time to pursue your dreams and that hard work and determination can lead to success.

Success means different things to different people. For John, success is walking his daughter down the aisle and receiving recognition from strangers inspired by his story. Fear is also an important part of John’s journey. It drives him to work hard every day and not let himself or his daughter down.

John’s next projects are the release of his book Lights, Camera, and a Warning and the premiere of the sequel to Becky, titled The Wrath of Becky, which is set to premiere at the SXSW film festival next month. He also has two other movie offers that he can’t disclose yet.

In conclusion, John  Hickman’s story is one of determination, hard work, and never giving up on your dreams. His journey to become an actor started late in life, but he made the most of every opportunity that came his way. His life is a reminder that anything is possible if you put in the work and always keep sight of your dreams.
